San Diego Urban Village Planning

San Diego County, California

This project had two main goals, the transformation of a small retail center into a more contemporary model for community living by providing a new retail center, a housing component for 28 dwelling units, a small neighborhood park, a community library and 15,000 square feet of office and commercial uses. A secondary goal was the creation of new sources of civic engagement for the community with the construction of a new community room in the library for the meetings and events, a new mini-park for the neighborhood and the inclusion of below market rate housing.
